Program
Senior Centers
Afternoon recitals at senior centers, with familiar repertoire and time to talk afterward.
What it looks like
A small ensemble of student musicians arrives for a 30–45 minute recital, set up in the community room or activity space. We bring our own stands and music; the host community provides the audience and the chairs. Afterwards, our musicians stay to chat with residents — answering questions about the pieces, hearing stories, and learning what the music meant to the people listening.
What we play
Repertoire is selected for the audience. For senior centers, we lean toward pieces that may be familiar from a lifetime of listening:
- Classical favorites (Mozart, Bach, Debussy, Chopin)
- Hymns and spirituals
- Mid-20th-century standards
- Folk and traditional songs from cultures represented in the community
Who hosts
This program is built for independent senior centers and active senior living communities where residents can comfortably attend a 45-minute concert. For settings with more advanced care needs, see our Nursing Homes & Memory Care program.
How to schedule
Email us at musicinreturn@gmail.com. We’ll work with your activity director to find a date that fits your residents’ rhythm — usually weekday afternoons.
