Music in Return
Community gathering around musicians performing together

A youth-led nonprofit

Empowering communities through an exchange that connects fellow performers and listeners alike

We take music to the places that need it most — senior centers, nursing homes, hospitals, and housing communities — all around Greater Boston. We revisit these places again and again, because we give music in return for creating connections that future generations can inherit.

Our Mission

A generation where music becomes a gift and an exchange

Music in Return believes that music can be given and received in equal measure. We bring live, therapeutic music to communities — senior centers, nursing homes, hospitals, and shelters where the arts are rarely accessible — and return again and again, documenting what happens in these rooms. Through performances, writing, and research, we create spaces where music becomes an exchange between students and elders, between performers and listeners, between community members and community members.

Our work begins in music. It concludes with attention.

Music in Return is launching.

After months of planning conversations, our first recitals are being scheduled. Here's what's coming, and how to be part of it.

FEATURE ·

Why we named it Music in Return.

The name came from a conversation about what we hoped would happen after a concert — not during it.

Help us bring music where it's needed.
